Select representative incoming parts
Send parts in the condition they normally reach the finishing station. If they are pre-ground for the demonstration, that preparation must be identified and included in the process route. Otherwise, the test understates the work required.
Choose a sample set covering recurring materials, thicknesses, typical burrs and difficult geometry. Include the smallest part where relevant, a common production part and a challenging part. Identify drawing revisions and label the incoming samples so the results remain traceable.
Define acceptance before the test
Write separate criteria for burr removal, edge treatment and surface finish. Add critical dimensions and any areas that must be preserved. Decide whether both faces and internal contours need treatment.
Where requirements are qualitative, use an agreed reference sample and consistent inspection conditions. Where dimensions or a radius are specified, agree the measurement method. Avoid substituting a general claim such as smooth edges for a requirement that should be measured.
Record the process used
Ask for the machine configuration, tooling, settings, part orientation and number of passes. Identify whether manual work takes place before, between or after machine passes. A short edited video may omit these steps, so request a complete description of the route.
Record the incoming burr condition and final inspection result for each sample family. The result should be linked to the settings that produced it, rather than presented as a selection of unlabelled finished parts.
Measure usable output
Conveyor speed is not the same as accepted parts per hour. Include loading, spacing, turning, collection and inspection in the agreed measurement scope. Distinguish a short demonstration from a sustained production trial.
Discuss tool condition as well. A brief test with new abrasives does not establish long-term tool life. Record the tool condition used for the trial and ask how quality checks and replacement decisions are managed in production.
A practical test report should contain:
- Sample identification and incoming photographs.
- Agreed quality and dimensional acceptance criteria.
- Machine configuration, tools, settings and pass count.
- Inspection results for every tested sample family.
- Handling steps, elapsed time and accepted quantity.
- Exceptions, unresolved issues and any follow-up trial required.
Keep the evidence for commissioning
Retain accepted reference parts and the written test conditions. They provide a starting point for installation and operator training. Confirm that the ordered machine configuration and supplied tooling match the scope agreed during selection.
Frequently asked questions
Is one successful sample enough to choose a machine?
It may establish a starting point, but it does not represent every material, thickness and part geometry in your production. Test the relevant range.
Should sample-test speed become a guaranteed production rate?
Only when the measurement conditions and scope are explicitly agreed. Actual output also includes handling, product mix and inspection requirements.
Prepare an application brief
Send KNOPPO your representative drawings, incoming-part photographs and acceptance requirements. Use that information to discuss the proposed deburring process and the evidence needed for an informed equipment decision.

The Role of Servo Motors in Fiber Laser Cutting Machines
Among these components, the servo motor plays a critical role in controlling the movement accuracy and overall performance of the machine. Many customers focus mainly on laser power when purchasing a fiber laser cutting machine, but the motion system is equally important. A powerful laser source cannot achieve excellent cutting results without a stable and precise servo system.
